The Stephen Ministry
Informational Meeting | Sunday, September 24
11 a.m.—JOY Classroom, AJ Campus
12:30 p.m.—Linda Locke Memorial Library, B Campus
Did you know HUMC is a Stephen Ministry Congregation? Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one caregiving ministry where a Stephen Minister is matched with someone going through a difficult time who is willing to receive support. All of us experience losses and challenges during our life and all Christians are called to care. When a trained Stephen Minister is matched with a person in need, a confidential relationship is begun and continues until there is a mutual agreement to end that formal caregiving relationship. Our church has had trained Stephen Ministers since 1996.
We want to say a word of appreciation to Deb Questel, Robin Midgett, and Rod McPeters who have continued to faithfully serve as Stephen Ministers. We are hoping to train additional ministers soon. Are you a good listener? Do you have gifts of mercy, service and encouragement? Are you dependable, able to keep confidentiality, and work under supervision? If so, please consider whether the Stephen Ministry may be a place God is calling you to serve.
We would like to invite you to attend an information session on Sunday, September 24 at the 11 a.m. (JOY classroom, Andrew Jackson Campus) or 12:30 p.m. (Linda Locke Memorial Library, Belinda Campus). We’ll tell you more about the Stephen Ministry and answer questions. We hope to start the training class in January.
If you are interested in learning more about the Stephen Ministry, call one of our Stephen Leaders, Becky Riney—(615) 496-4438, or Carol Ridiner—(615) 347-5502.
