Room in the Inn Shepherds Needed (2017–2018 Season)

‘When you did it to these my brothers, you were doing it to me!’

Thanks to everyone who participated in Room in the Inn during the 2016/2017 season. Together, we served over 300 homeless guests and provided 600 meals plus 300 sack lunches. I will never forget so many guests that said thank you for taking care of us and providing our meals. The Clothes Closet was another blessing they appreciated. The hard work you put into the program is what makes it work so well. This year, we had 12 Sunday school classes, our Youth Ministry, Cub Scouts, Sue Crosslin and family, Janice Denton and the entire Clothing Room team, Driver’s team, Enrique Hernandez (Church Sponsor) and the entire church staff supporting Room in the Inn to make Tuesday night special for our guests. A special thanks goes to Christie Hollaway who the guests love.

While most of the classes provide one male and one female shepherd for their nights, some classes have problems finding volunteers for the overnight stay. I would like to begin the next season with a team of four men and four women that will be willing to stay a couple of nights between November 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018 to serve as back-up shepherds.

The shepherds arrive between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Tuesday evenings and have dinner with our guests. The next morning, our guests are gone by 6 a.m. and shepherds leave by 6:30 a.m.

Individuals and couples are welcome! If you feel that you would be willing to share nights next season as part of our Room in the Inn Shepherd Team, contact David Chamberlin at (615) 498-7124 or
