All of us are in “training.” From the youngest infant to the oldest adult, opportunities for growth and service to the Lord arrive constantly! God wants each of us to be on board when those opportunities occur. Children are such a gift from God, and at Hermitage, numerous activities and opportunities are available in which children may participate.
The Children’s Ministries at Hermitage United Methodist Church is committed to provide a loving, Christian environment where each child may grow in their knowledge of our Lord and Savior.
We provide numerous opportunities to actively engage all children in learning through the following activities:
Opportunities for Summer Involvement at HUMC
Are you already thinking about summer vacation? Before you plan THAT date, put THESE dates on your calendar:
- April 1 at 2:00pm: Easter Egg Hunt at the Fellowship Building location on Andrew Jackson Parkway
- June 18-22 from 9:00pm to Noon Daily: Vacation Bible School -
SKY: “Everything is Possible with God” - July 16-20 from 9:00pm to 4:00pm Daily: WAM Camp (Worship Arts and Music) Brochure to be available soon
- July 23-27: Camp Lookout (for current 4th and 5th graders) Information coming soon.
- Various Thursdays in July: M & M’s (Mini Methodists) from 9:00am until Noon. This group is for those entering grades 1 through youth. We go out and about, helping others! More information coming about “mini”
M & M’s (for our preschoolers and younger) during the month of July.
Please Note: We will not be offering a summer camp weekly program this summer for students entering grades 4-7.
Children’s Sunday School Class
Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. for ages 2 through grade 5 in our children’s department and concludes at 10:45 a.m. Below are the room assignments for all children from infant to fifth grade:

We offer a 9:45 a.m. Toddler Sunday School class at the Fellowship Hall which is located at 4250 Andrew Jackson Parkway. If you are attending Sunday School or worship at the Fellowship Hall, you may drop off your child, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Room 119 in the children’s south wing area of the Belinda Drive facility. They will be supervised so you may travel to the Fellowship Building (with the connector on Belinda Drive, this is about two minutes away). They will then be escorted to their Sunday School class. This room is also available for pick up when you arrive back at the Belinda Drive location or you may choose to go to your child’s Sunday School class to pick up.
Our infant and toddler nurseries provide excellent care for your child while you are attending your own Sunday School class or worship service.
Pagers are available for immediate parent contact if needed.
Children’s Church
Children’s Church is offered for ages three through Kindergarten immediately following the Children’s Moments during the worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. At the conclusion of Children’s Moments, the children are taken to the gym for a time of large group instruction. They are then broken into smaller groups for more direct instruction time.
