Roy Gateley is HUMC’s newest employee, having joined the staff in July of 2009. He and his wife, Heather, have one son, Tommy who just turned on one in June 0f 2011.
Roy is a native Tennessean, growing up in the Neely’s Bend area during elementary school and middle school, then graduating from Portland High School. He studied Audio Engineering at SAE Institute here in Nashville. He is the only boy amongst four sisters. Roy is a musician that plays at least five instruments, and plays drums in a classic rock band. He enjoys many styles of music, especially the Allman Brothers, Derrick and the Dominos, and Blind Faith.
He definitely comes from a musical family. Roy’s grandfather was Jimmy Gateley, an Opry musician and long-time band leader for Bill Anderson. Mr. Gateley was also a songwriter who had an international hit when Cliff Richards recorded a version of his song, “The Minute You’re Gone.” (To see Jimmy and Bill Anderson perform, go to: http://www.myspace.com/jimmygateley.)
Roy is an avid reader, and has read several J.R.R. Tolkien books, including, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and The Silmarillion. He also enjoys watching videos, and again, The Lord of the Rings is one of his favorite.
