Carolyn Horton has worked with Hermitage UMC since May of 2002.  She serves as the assistant to Christian Education, which includes children and youth ministries.  Carolyn is also the key person that works with the Benevolence Fund, which helps community members with food, utility and other assistance.  She has an extensive network of churches, government, and other agencies in which she often refers people.  In order to better serve those that she works with, Carolyn trained to be a Stephen Minister.

She will be married to her husband, Ruben, 26 years in July.  They have one son, Matthew, that lives in Knoxville.

Carolyn enjoys hiking, reading, and playing with her three dogs.  Roxie and Spike are Boston Terriers.  Carolyn just found out through DNA testing that her third dog, Holly, is mixed with eight different breeds.  The dominant genes are Newfoundland and Beagle with some interesting mixes, such as Bison Frise and Shar-Pei!  She wasn’t surprised at all with Holly being part Beagle, because every chance she gets Holly takes off into the woods behind their home.
